Warren JFK's Katie Rogner places fourth at state



COLUMBUS -- Warren JFK senior Katie Rogner shot a two-day total of 153 to finish fourth overall at the state girls golf tournament Saturday at Ohio State University's Gray Course.
Rogner, who shot a 74 on Friday's first day, carded a 79 on Saturday to finish seven strokes behind Lancaster junior Allie White, who placed first with a score of 144.
South Range sophomore Ariel Whitmer finished seventh with a score of 153. Whitmer, who shot 78 on Friday's first day, shot a 76 on Saturday, including a two-over par 37 over the final nine holes.
Canfield, the only area team to qualify, finished 11th in the 12-team competition with a combined score of 727. Junior Jennifer Hudock had a two-day total of 177 to lead the Cardinals, who were making their first state tournament appearance.
Hudock finished 43rd overall, while junior teammate Danelle Gagliardi shot 178 to finish 44th. Junior Jamie Berndt (185) was 51st, Christine Brown (187) was 57th and senior Samantha Meier (190) placed 62nd.
West Chester Lakota West won with 635.
