Struthers native speaks
Tee Ross, a musician, music teacher, author and inspirational speaker, formerly of Struthers, will speak at several area locations this coming week. His topic is the "Seven Keys For a Happy Life." Ross, who now lives in Ellenton, Fla., will speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Christian Assembly, 6241 Tuscarawas Road, Industry, Pa.; noon Tuesday at the Struthers Rotary Club meeting at Struthers Presbyterian Church, 110 Poland Ave.; 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at High Pointe Assembly of God, 5716 Struthers Road, Struthers; 6 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God, 7580 Glenwood Ave., Boardman; and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 28 at Heck's Restaurant, 610 E. Park Ave., Columbiana.
Ross, 90, also is working on a book called "It's A Great Life -- At Any Age." Ross, a 1934 Struthers High School graduate and a 1938 graduate of Youngstown College (now YSU), once owned music studios on Midlothian Boulevard and West Federal Street.
Fall festival
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 13519 Woodworth Road, will have its Reformation/All Saints Fall Festival beginning at 5:30 p.m. next Saturday. The event, which features a bonfire, games and food, will be at the church pavilion. A hayride is scheduled for 6 p.m. The public is invited.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Fellowship Choir of Christian Bible Baptist Church, 2369 Oak St. Ext., will present "Order My Steps" based on Psalms 37:23 at 6 p.m. Oct. 29.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The male chorus of Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 718 Albert St., will sponsor a musical program at 6 p.m. Sunday featuring the male choruses of Shiloh Baptist Church and Rising Star Baptist Church and Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, Pa.
Women's Day
YOUNGSTOWN -- Price Memorial AME Zion Church will celebrate Women's Day at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The theme is "Contrasting Values -- Modern and Traditional Impact on the Life Styles of Women. The speaker will be Mrs. Rita Hickey, first lady of St. Luke AME Zion Church, New Castle, and first lady of AME Zion Church, Akron District. Dinner will follow the worship service. CAMPBELL -- The mission department of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 125 Roosevelt Drive, will sponsor a musical at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Various groups, choirs, and soloists from the tri-state area will be in the program. Please come out and praise the Lord in song with us.
Revival meetings
COLUMBIANA -- Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, will have revival meetings at 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The speaker will be the Rev. Patrick Bailey, pastor of Danville North Bend Church of the Brethren, Danville, Ohio. The theme will be "Keep it Simple, Saint." The public is encouraged to attend.
Ordination service
YOUNGSTOWN -- Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Victor Ave., will have an ordination service for Gwendolyn Joy Alexander, associate minister, at 4 p.m. Oct. 29.
Mrs. Alexander is married to the Rev. Larry Alexander, pastor of Phillips Memorial. She is a graduate of the American Baptist Theological Seminary, Youngstown Extension Unit of Nashville, Tenn., and is a student of the Covington Theological Seminary, Rossville, Ga. She is employed at the McGuffey Centre on Jacobs Road. Minister Alexander was licensed to preach the Gospel on March 4, 2001, under the leadership of the Rev. Michael H. Harrison Sr., pastor of Union Baptist Church, and he will be the officiating pastor for the ordination service.
Jewish/Islamic traditions
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Helene Sinnreich, director of Judaic and Holocaust Studies, and Dr. Mustansir Mir, director of the Center for Islamic Studies, will have a session on self-purification as depicted in Jewish and Islamic texts at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Jones Room at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center. It is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to used the M2 parking deck on Lincoln Avenue. Use the Arlington Street entrance and ask the attendant for a parking pass. Missionary talk
YOUNGSTOWN -- Brooke Bornman, a missionary to North Korea, will speak at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday to share her experiences from last August. The Rev. Walter Moss, the Foursquare District Missions Director, will also share what God is doing around the world. Fellowship and food will follow the evening service.
