M. Ridge stays in hunt for playoffs



Jackson-Milton, United and Leetonia also earned league wins.
MINERAL RIDGE -- With about three minutes to play Kent Cunningham scored on a 9-yard run to power Mineral Ridge to a 16-12 win over Lisbon in an Inter Tri-County League Tier One game Friday night.
The Rams (6-3, 4-2) remain alive in the hunt for a Div. VI, Region 21 playoff berth.
The winning drive began when a Lisbon punt was blocked near midfield. The win keeps the Rams
Nick Dominic returned a punt 50 yards for a first-quarter touchdown and his conversion kick put the Rams ahead 7-0.
After Aaron Sweeney caught a 21-yard pass from Steve Tsilimos to cut the deficit to a point, Dominic booted a 37-yard field goal.
Lisbon (4-5, 1-5) went up at the break, 12-10, when Brian Flory scored from the 1.
A.J. Zitello ran 24 times for 83 yards for Mineral Ridge while Cunningham added three runs for 17 more.
For Lisbon, Dana Rose ran 10 times for 71 yards.

LOWELLVILLE -- A safety in the first quarter and a touchdown run by Matt Shields in the second period was the difference in the Inter-Tri-County Tier Two contest.
A fourth-down fumble rolled out of the end zone that gave the Bluejays (4-5, 3-3) a 2-0 lead.
The Bluejays stopped the Rockets on a fourth-and 3 and took over on the Lowellville (1-8, 1-5) 26-yard line early in the second quarter.
The Bluejays' Shields carried three straight times, which included a 15-yard run for a touchdown.
Jackson-Milton also had two goal line stands in the fourth quarter stopping Lowellville at one and again as Bryan Gibbs batted down a pass at the 6.
Shields gained 30 yards on 14 carries and the Bluejays rushed 42 yards for 53 and the were 1-of-2 passing for 30.
The Rockets' Cody Whinnery carried 14 times for 68 yards and quarterback Joey DePasquale complete 5-of-9 passes for 52, with Jimmy Sudon catching all of those.
United 41,East Palestine 15
HANOVERTON -- Josh Hartenstein scored on runs of 24 and 2 yards as United scored 33 unanswered points in the second half to beat East Palestine in an ITCL Tier Two contest.
Bryan Phillips led a potent United (5-4, 2-4) ground attack with 149 yards on 11 carries, including a 41-yard scoring jaunt. Ethan Wutrick tacked on 67 yards on five attempts and a 46-yard score as the Golden Eagles finished with 273 yards on 35 tries while holding East Palestine (0-9, 0-6) to just 27 yards on 33 attempts.
Phillips also completed 6-of-14 passes for 93 yards, while Mike Shinn had two receptions for 47 yards and Jordan Wrask 38 yards on three catches. Wrask also scored on a 4-yard run.
Nick Dicello completed 10-of-13 passes for 104 yards, including a 13-yard scoring strike to Nick Bismonte. Tommy Powers had three receptions for 43 yards to lead the Bulldogs.
Leetonia 54,Sebring 20
SEBRING -- The Bears (5-4, 4-2) scored at least one TD in every quarter, with Corey Raushenbach completing TD passes to Dustin Bertscham for 44 and 55 yards and to Matt Raushenbach for 5 yards.
Jake Kruegal of the Bears scored on runs of 66, 20 and 61 yards and finished with 230 yards on 15 carries.
Sebring (0-9, 0-6) was paced by quarterback Kyle Nannah, who threw TD strikes to Aaron Burd for 72 and 44 yards and to Michael Weekly for 6.
