Field goal helps lift Lakeview



The Bulldogs stopped Girard in overtime to win 10-7.
GIRARD -- Max Spies made a 25-yard field goal on Lakeview's possession in overtime and the Bulldogs' defense held Girard on four straight plays to clinch a 10-7 victory Friday night in the Trumbull Athletic Conference.
After a holding penalty moved the Indians back in the overtime period, Girard quarterback Adam Charles threw incompletions on third and fourth down to end the threat. Girard had a chance to win in regulation, but missed a 36-yard field goal attempt with 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Eric Pirtz carried 25 times for 149 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs (4-5, 3-3), who completed one pass for 1 yard and lost two first-half fumbles.
Charles finished 16 of 26 for 194 yards and an interception, hitting Joe Tate five times for 81 yards and Marty Brinker five times for 41 yards. Kyle Stadelmyer carried 16 times for 34 yards with a touchdown for Girard (3-6, 2-4), who lost three out of six fumbles.

BROOKFIELD -- The Golden Flashes (3-6, 1-5) got on the scoreboard when Kris Wildman tallied on a 5-yard run in the second quarter. Ron Fulzarz made a place for the extra point.
Fulzarz, then kicked a 30-yard field goal giving Champion a 10-0 lead at halftime.
Leo Rouan took the second half kickoff and returned it 80 yards for TD. Fulzarz's place kick completed the scoring.
The Warriors slipped to 5-4, 2-4.
LaBrae 29,Newton Falls 8
NEWTON FALLS -- Eric Hart's scoring runs of 10 and 26 yards powered LaBrae past Newton Falls.
Hart finished with 47 yards on 10 carries, while Chris Cobb led the way with 91 yards on 9 carries, including a 48-yard scoring dash in the fourth period.
Mike Ryan was 11-of-21 for 153 yards and Hart and Cobb combined for five receptions for 73 yards for the Vikings (6-3, 4-2 TAC).
Mark Bjelac had 51 yards on 16 carries and Tamir Grogan was 5-of-16 for 96 yards for the Tigers (1-8, 1-5). Matt Dillon had four receptions for 74 yards and Grogan scored the lone Newton Falls touchdown.
