Three arrested in case of breaking and entering
BOARDMAN -- A police officer investigating what he believed was a suspicious vehicle at a closed business arrested three men on breaking and entering and other charges.
The officer saw a sport utility vehicle drive into the driveway of Ride Power Sports, South Avenue, about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. The car sat in the business's rear lot with it lights off.
When stopped, the driver, Andrew W. Phillips, 44, of South Evanston Drive, Youngstown, said he had stopped at the business to urinate by its trash bin, a police report said.
Police saw gloves and ski masks where both passengers had been sitting.
Officers also found a pair of bolt cutters in the bushes near where the car had been parked. A chain on the lock of the gate behind the business had been cut, according to reports.
Who was charged
Phillips was charged with attempted breaking and entering. His passengers, Jeffrey J. Brozman, 44, of South Maryland Avenue, Youngstown, and Bobby J. Mock, 37, of Glacier Avenue, Youngstown, each were charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools.
Mock, who initially gave police someone else's Social Security number, also was charged with obstructing official business. He complained of chest pains and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Wednesday morning, police got a call from the hospital police, telling them that Mock had fled. Escape was added to his list of charges and he remains at large.
Phillips posted bond and was released. Brozman remained in the Mahoning County Justice Center.
They are scheduled to appear today in Mahoning County Court here.
