Police suspect killer hiding here

YOUNGSTOWN -- A killer who escaped from the Indiana State Prison five years ago -- possibly by hiding inside a garbage truck -- may be hiding out in this area.
To help in the capture of Larry W. Woods Jr., the TV show "America's Most Wanted" will unveil a 14-foot-by-48-foot billboard today at Market Street and Midlothian Boulevard. The billboard will seek tips on Woods' whereabouts.
A representative of the FBI in Boardman is expected to be on hand for the unveiling of the billboard.
"America's Most Wanted," hosted by John Walsh, twice featured Woods in 2005. Tipsters can call (800) CRIME-TV.
Police believe Woods, 34, could be hiding out in a number of places in the south or Midwest, including Michigan City, Ind., Youngstown, College Park, Ga., Chicago or Cleveland.
What he did
Woods was sentenced to 110 years in prison for the 1994 murder and robbery of a woman manager of a restaurant where he worked in Indianapolis. He escaped from prison July 9, 2001.
Lt. Dave Kirkham of the Indiana State Police said Thursday that Woods is from Youngstown and had, at least within the past five years, family and friends in Youngstown, Struthers and Boardman.
Records show Woods' father once lived on West Boston Avenue on the South Side and in the early 1990s moved to Indianapolis.
Since May 2005, "America's Most Wanted" has been using billboards donated by the outdoor advertising industry to help find fugitives. The Youngstown billboard was donated by Lamar Advertising in Girard.
Paula Simpson, an "America's Most Wanted" producer, said Youngstown is the only location chosen for a Larry Woods Jr. billboard.
Brian Conley, general manager of Lamar Advertising, said the billboard will stay up as long as it takes to catch the fugitive. He said this is the first such billboard in this market, adding it might move to another location later on.
