Boardman moves on; Canfield ousted



As expected, Hubbard and Southeast did well in the Division II event.
STOW -- Courtney Schiffauer made eight kills and five blocks Wednesday as Boardman defeated Cuyahoga Falls by scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16 in the Division I volleyball tournament at Stow Monroe Falls High.
Danielle Bletso had seven kills and four blocks for the Spartans (11-10)l. Danielle Williams had 17 assists, 10 points and three aces while Staci Wahlman had six kills, four blocks and 10 points.
In the other match, Stow posted a 25-16, 25-19, 19-25, 25-12 victory over Canfield.
For the Cardinals (11-12), Katie Williams scored nine points and made eight kills. Rachel O'Hara had five points, one ace, three digs and 28 assists. Kelsey Owen scored nine points and made five digs and 12 kills.
Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Boardman will go against Stow in a district semifinal game.
Division II
BOARDMAN -- Gabby Flynn scored 13 points and she had eight digs in leading Hubbard to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 victory over Howland in a Div. II match at Boardman High.
Lauren Ferguson added 10 points and she had 32 assists for the Eagles (21-3).
Sophie Paddock had 12 kills and seven blocks. Maggie Bogdan had seven kills and six blocks.
Taylor Summerfield led the Tigers with 21 assists, five digs and three kills. Kelly Barzak had 10 kills. Katlyn Flick had five kills, two digs and two blocks and Stephanie Wisniewski had 10 digs.
In another match, Southeast oused Chaney by scores of 25-6, 25-16 and 25-9. Jennifer Gahagan scored eight points with four aces and 11 kills for the Pirates (21-3).
Meagan Wain added 18 points with three blocks. Kelsey Hill had 19 assists.
Jacquela Teamor led the Cowboys (10-13) with five assists and two blocks.
Antoinette Smith had three kills and Emilie Wheland had four digs.
Southeast will take on Hubbard at Boardman on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Division III
SALEM -- Crestview (21-2) defeated Newton Falls (7-17) by scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 in Div. III matches at Salem High.
In other matches, Waterloo (21-3) beat South Range (12-12) by scores of 25-5, 25-19, 25-13.
Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Crestview will play Waterloo in a district semifinal game.
Division IV
LISBON -- St. Thomas Aquinas and Mineral Ridge won Div. IV tournament games at David Anderson High.
Aquinas (12-11) defeated Columbiana (6-12) by scores of 25-13, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-20.
Rachel Drakulich scored 13 points with three aces and made 19 digs. Julianne Dechellis made 14 kills and three aces while Katie Douglas mad 13 kills and 15 blocks.
For the Clippers, Gina Snavely had 19 assists, 51 sets and eight points. Paige Papania produced nine points, 25 digs and 10 kills while Katie Douglas had 13 kills and 15 blocks.
St. Thomas advances to play Western Reserve on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Mineral Ridge ousted Lowellville by scores of 30-28, 22-25, 26-24 and 25-17.
For the Rams (7-16), Jenna Spackman had eight points with three aces, 15 assists and 39 sets.
Heather Reinhart had 14 points and 11 kills while Alex Ladd made 24 assists and 59 sets.
For the Rockets (8-13), Rachel Mariotti scored 20 points with six aces, Casey Wilson made 12 assists and 28 sets, and Kaitlin McCarthy made five kills.
The Rams will play second-seeded Jackson-Milton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
