ENON VALLEY, Pa. -- One person was killed and another critically injured in a crash on Pa. Route 351. Pennsylvania State Police said Kelly Rae Cunning, 23, of Vogel Lane Lot 2 was in critical condition, but could not say which hospital was treating her. She was a passenger in a car driven by Richard Lemke, 33, of Vogel Lane Lot 2, who was killed at the scene. The vehicle was traveling west about 11:20 p.m. Monday when Lemke lost control. Police said Lemke was speeding, and the car traveled across the other lane onto an embankment and began rolling over. While rolling over, the car, a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus, stopped when it hit a utility pole. Police said Cunning was ejected and found on the south side of the road.
2 facing robbery charge
GIRARD -- The Liberty Township man and woman accused of threatening a Youngstown woman with a hammer and stealing a 10,000 winning lottery ticket appeared in Girard Municipal Court on Tuesday. No plea was taken from Jesse Cooper or Maudestine Gibson on the felony charge of robbery. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a later date. Magistrate Mark Finamore continued the personal recognizance bond for both Cooper and Gibson. If convicted, Gibson and Cooper both face up to eight years in jail and a 15,000 fine.
Pepper spray used on bus
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pepper spray was used on a Wilson High School bus when students blocked a patrolman trying to break up a fight, reports show. Patrolman Malik Mostella said three boys were beating up on a fourth boy Monday afternoon and, out of concern for safety, he used the pepper spray when no one would let him pass. The students in the bus were then taken to the lunchroom, and milk was used to decontaminate those affected by the spray. The three boys who assaulted the fourth boy were suspended for 10 days, reports show. A second bus was sent to transport students home.
Assault charge
EDINBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police have charged Elizabeth Skon Eggum, 22, of West River Road with aggravated assault. Police released details of the arrest Tuesday. They said she is accused of holding a 4-year-old child under hot water Oct. 8. The child had to be hospitalized for severe burns to his buttocks and rectal area. Eggum was arraigned Friday and released after posting 5,000 bond.
Man shot several times
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mack Boone, 19, of West Judson Avenue, shot several times near his home, was in critical condition Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Boone collapsed on a neighbor's porch and asked for help after being shot around 9 p.m. Monday. Boone told police he had been shot on an unspecified street corner.
