Man is facing several charges

BOARDMAN -- A 36-year-old Youngstown man faces a slew of charges including fleeing from police.
William Howell, Himrod Avenue, was charged with drug possession and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and criminal trespass.
A police officer saw the car Howell was driving turn from South Avenue onto Mathews Road without using a turn signal about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
As the officer, with lights and siren activated, tried to stop the car, it began to speed up. When Howell tried to turn at Mathews and Southern Boulevard, he lost control of the vehicle, which slid onto the railroad tracks, becoming disabled, reports show.
Police said Howell then got out of the car and ran and when they ordered him to stop, telling him he was under arrest, Howell kept running. More officers arrived. Howell was seen running from Arlene Avenue to Gertrude Avenue, and a K-9 officer was used to track him. They found Howell hiding in a garage on Arlene Avenue.
Police found a plastic bag containing two rocks of suspected cocaine inside Howell's coat.
During questioning, Howell told police that he had thought about stopping the car when he saw the cruiser's lights but that he was afraid because of the drugs and because he's on supervised release from the U.S. Parole Department, reports said.
