MAUI, Hawaii -- The sunset wedding of Ellen Barger and Anthony J. Helf, both of 14 Tobago, Laguna Niguel, Calif., took place Sept. 12 on the beach at Makena Cove near Wailea on the Hawaiian island of Maui.The Rev. Michael Gannon officiated at the ceremony for the daughter of Dr. S. Floyd Barger, 3855 Chaucer Lane, Austintown, and the late M. Luraine Barger, and the son of Gerald and Mary Helf of Milwaukee.
The bride's ivory sheath gown was accented with beading and embroidery and featured an empire waist and a fitted bodice with spaghetti straps.
Mrs. Helf graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State University and was an Edwin Carr Fellow at California State University at Fullerton, where she received a master's degree in secondary education. She is a mathematics coordinator with Orange County Department of Education at Costa Mesa, Calif.
The groom is president of Progressive Suspension Inc. in La Palma, Calif. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a master's of business administration degree at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., where he was valedictorian.
