Day of Recollection
STRUTHERS -- The Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will hold a Day of Recollection on Oct. 18 at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St. The rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 and then meditation and devotions. A luncheon will follow at the Oakview.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Learn what it means to be a member of the Unitarian Universalist church during a service at 11 a.m. Sunday with leader Susan Frederick-Gray. In addition to longtime members, the service is for new members and visitors.
Kingdom Kids
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Kingdom Kids Club of Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, 1970 Everett Ave. will begin fall meetings Thursday. Sessions will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays for six weeks. Pastor anniversary
NILES -- The congregation of First Baptist Church, 26 E. Church St., will mark the 25th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Ben Reed, during services Sunday. Sunday school and adult Bible study will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by a worship service at 10:45 a.m. with guest speaker, the Rev. Jim Read of Jamestown, N.Y. A dinner will follow, and a service also is planned for 2 p.m.
40 Days of Community
AUSTINTOWN -- The congregation of Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road, is participating in the program, "40 Days of Community," through Nov. 26 under the leadership of the Rev. David Roberts and Brad Bloomster, director of ministries. The campaign is based on author Rick Warren's best-seller, "The Purpose Driven Life." Drama to be presented
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The drama, "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames," will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 15-17 at Miracle Valley Church, 2119 Valley View Road. The free presentation focuses on choices in life. An offering will be taken.
Prayer seminar set
YOUNGSTOWN -- A prayer walking seminar is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at E.B. Family Life Center, 7 S. Garland Ave., (former edifice of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church). Sponsors are the Christian Education Ministry of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Baptist Pastors Council, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Market Place Ministries. Concert at church
HOWLAND -- The award-winning musical group Sheltered Reality will present a concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road S.E. The group, founded by Steven Schlosser, received the Presidential Award for the Best Youth Project aimed at ending homelessness in America in 2003. A free-will offering will be taken. Those attending are asked to donate nonperishable food items for the church food pantry.

Homecoming celebration
YOUNGSTOWN -- The NewBirth Kimmelbrook Baptist Church, 1325 Victor Ave., will hold its annual homecoming celebration with services at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Willie F. Peterson of NewBirth will preach at the morning service, and the Rev. Clarence Glenn, pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church of Youngstown, in the afternoon.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Free Methodist Community Church, 9900 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, will present Providence, a musical ministry and contemporary rock band from Akron, at 8 p.m. Friday.
Mass for anniversaries
YOUNGSTOWN -- Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin, diocesan administrator for the Diocese of Youngstown, will officiate at a Mass at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at St. John the Baptist Church in Canton to honor 86 couples who are being recognized for wedding anniversaries. Agostino and Lucille Mastrioianni, members of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Canton, are marking their 68th anniversary, the longest among the honorees. Also participating are Alfred and Mary Alice Fitch and Bernard and Irene Skomra of St. George Church in Lisbon, 50th anniversaries, and Lamont and Mary Boyer of St. Mary Church in Warren, 58th anniversary.
Teen Challenge
BOARDMAN -- Teen Challenge, a faith-based nonprofit crisis and referral center for those with drug and alcohol problems, will hold its 19th annual fund-raising banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Church banquet hall, South Avenue.
