Mistakes foil Hiram in 94-74 loss to Bluffton

HIRAM -- Michael McDevitt scored 15 points and Mike Staley added 13 for Hiram College, in a 94-74 loss to Bluffton Tuesday.
The Terriers (0-2) were done in by 18 turnovers -- leading to 22 points for Bluffton -- and Bluffton's 54.8 percent shooting (34-of-62).
McDevitt also had a team-high seven rebounds.
Bluffton (5-1) was led by Mike Anthony with 18 points and seven rebounds. Nate Overmyer added 15 points, and three other players reached double figures. Eric Schwieterman finished with 11 points and nine assists.
West Liberty St. 110, Bethany 74
WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. -- West Liberty led 47-45 at halftime, then outscored the Bison, 63-42, in the second half, in the semifinals of the Wendy's Classic.
Ben Howlett scored 22 points for the Hilltoppers (4-1), while Chris Banal and Corey McDuffie added 20 apiece.
Bethany (2-2) was led by Chris Stephens with 16 points, and Joe Testa with 13 points and 13 rebounds. James Wallace also scored 13 points, while Ryan Besancon scored 12 and Marcus Adams 10. Marc Palermo (Ursuline) finished with five points and six rebounds.
Walsh 79, Mount Vernon Nazarene 55
MOUNT VERNON -- Walsh (4-2, 2-0 American Mideast Conference South) erased a 19-point first half deficit.
Josh Johnson (Warren Harding) came off the bench to lead the Cavaliers with 19 points. Walsh outscored MVN 40-21 in the second half.
Adam Lesch added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers, while Eder Araujo added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Women
BETHANY, W.Va. -- Bethany held an early 10-point lead over 25th-ranked Capital but the Crusaders (3-1) used a 25-4 run to take control and go on to an 85-57 victory over the Bison (1-5).
Lisa Mitchell scored 15 points for Bethany, while Brooke Orange added 13. Courtney Irwin finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
For Capital, Kristen Richardson finished with 17 points and Daniele Manalac scored 13.
Walsh 74,Mount Vernon Nazarene 69
MOUNT VERNON -- Jessie Miller scored a career-high 17 points for Walsh, while Ingrid Brainard and Monika Mitchell added 10 apiece.
Mitchell also had nine rebounds for the Cavaliers (2-5, 1-1 AMC South).
