Man sentenced to 6 years in rape

WARREN -- Jamil Moss, 23, of 72 Woodland Ave., Niles, was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday, the day after a jury was selected and witnesses testified in his rape trial.
Moss was charged with three counts of rape and one of kidnapping, all with specifications that he committed the crimes while using a firearm. But on Tuesday morning before testimony began, Moss agreed to plead guilty to two counts of rape and one of kidnapping.
Judge W. Wyatt McKay sentenced him to three years in prison on each of the charges plus three years mandatory time on the gun specifications. Each count was ordered served at the same time.
Police said Moss persuaded a woman he knew to meet him at his Niles apartment in March to discuss money and then raped her three times during the evening, and used two handguns to threaten her in the residence.
The victim, her sister and a nurse at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital testified Monday.
