Newton Falls records second straight win

YOUNGSTOWN -- Danielle Clonch scored 19 points as Newton Falls rolled to its second straight win, defeating Chaney, 51-41, in a girls high school basketball game Monday. Jacci Dash added 13 points and Kelsey McGregor 10 for the Tigers. Alyissa Sykes and Clenisha Cless each scored 12 points to lead Chaney (0-2).
Jackson-Milton 50, Lordstown 34
LORDSTOWN -- Jessica Balant scored 17 points and Carrie Fiol added 13 to lead Jackson-Milton in the opener for both teams. Brianna Blodgott led Lordstown with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Yo. Christian 38, Campbell 15
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kara Cooper had 15 points and nine steals for the Eagles in the opener for both teams. Sara Bell added four points and 12 rebounds and Vicki Bankhead had 12 points. Taylor Burton scored nine points for Campbell.
McDonald 54, Windham 34
MCDONALD -- Emily Dolsak collected 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils (2-0). Joh'Vonnie Mosley added 12 points. McDonald jumped ahead 24-15 at the break. Sara Apthorpe led the Bombers (0-1) with nine points.
United 61, Western Reserve 49
BERLIN CENTER -- Allison Graham scored 16 points and Caitlin Higgins had 15 for United (2-0). Maggie Sell added 10 points. Lainey Kekic had 14 points to lead the Blue Devils (0-2).
Hubbard 44, South Range 40
NORTH LIMA -- Sophie Paddock and Brittany Bullock each scored 10 points as Hubbard won its season opener against South Range. Autumn Carter led all scorers for the Raiders with 18 points.

GIRARD -- Halle Minchin-Skook poured in 25 points and was backed up by Ashley Galbraith with 17 for the Wildcats (1-0). Emily Smerchansky scored 11 points and Adrienne Steverson had 10 points and nine assists for the Indians (0-2).
Brookfield 40, Badger 15
BROOKFIELD -- Morgan Bonekovic had 12 points and seven rebounds as Brookfield posted an easy win over Badger in the season opener for both teams. Lauren Gentile added seven rebounds, while Kelly Jones had seven steals. Kayla Flowers led Badger with six points.
Southeast 43, West Branch 40
RAVENNA -- Nikki Murphy scored 16 points including three 3-point goals and Southeast beat West Branch is the season opener for both teams. Shelly Greenawalt had 14 points and Cassi Snoddy 13 for the Warriors.
