DeBartolos make 2M donation

CLEVELAND -- Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, have given 2 million to the DeBartolo Fund for Colon Cancer Research and Education at the Cleveland Clinic.
The gift, presented to Dr. Victor Fazio, chairman of the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, was announced at a recent evening reception at the DeBartolo home in Tampa, Fla.
Through their philanthropy and distinguished service, the DeBartolos have played an important role in advancing the mission of the Cleveland Clinic, where Edward DeBartolo is a former member of the board of trustees and is honorary chairman of the Digestive Disease Center Leadership Board, said Dr. Fazio.
The DeBartolos also have contributed generously to the Victor W. Fazio Endowed Chair for Colorectal Surgery, held by Dr. James Church, who is section head of endoscopy and research in the Department of Colorectal Surgery.
"I am proud to continue the family's legacy of contributing to the advancement of the diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer," said Edward DeBartolo.
Recently, the DeBartolos became honorary chairmen of the Cleveland Clinic's Today's Innovations, Tomorrow's Healthcare Campaign, which has a goal of raising 1.25 billion.
