Miriam Chapter holds installation ceremony for new slate of officers



YOUNGSTOWN --Miriam Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star, held its 99th annual installation of officers Oct. 23 during a meeting at the Masonic Temple on Wick Avenue.
Inducted at the ceremony were Merry Beth Vargo, worthy matron; Jack Maxwell, worthy patron; Laurie Hernandez, associate matron; Russell W. Gillam Jr., associate patron; Judy Elliott, secretary; Elberta Scott, treasurer; Susan Gillam, conductress; Barbara T. Parker, associate conductress; Rose Marie Roth, chaplain; Eugene Woodworth, marshall; Marion Brownlee, organist; Jean Mook, Adah; Norma Wise, Ruth; Blanche Costanza, Esther; Jean Layne, Martha; Jean McClure, Electa; James B. Parker IV, warder; and Carole Maxwell, sentinel.
Jean Olzak, installing officer, was assisted by Carol Bohr of Ida McKinley Chapter 229, installing marshall; Naomi Garver, installing chaplain; and William Westover Jr. of Palmy Chapter 114, installing organist. Allen Bohr of Ida McKinley Chapter 229 was host in the East.
A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony.
