St. Luke to host Day of Prayer for Peace
BOARDMAN -- St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., will host a Day of Prayer for Peace, "Calming the Anxious Heart," from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 as part of its observance of Advent. The chapel will be open throughout the day for prayer and meditation.
A "living chat room" will be from noon to 3 p.m. in which participants may discuss personal ideas on peace.
The Peace Time Theater will feature the following: "Pardon and Justice" at 1 p.m.; "Skills for Practical Peace Making" at 1:30; "The Way of Justice and Peace" at 2; and "The Every Day" at 2:30.
A peace mural will be constructed during the day and participants may add their artistic contributions.
All Ages Catholic Teaching is scheduled from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and will feature the book, "The Butter Battle Book" by Dr. Seuss. Age-specific activities will be geared to youth.
The Rev. Joseph A. Fata, pastor, will discuss "Peace: Catholic Teaching and Tradition." George Garchar and Terry Vicars will speak on "If You Want Peace, Work for Justice."
The day will conclude with a candlelight vigil and tree-lighting at 6.
The event is open to all. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
