Eastwood Mall houses gallery to reach audiences for local art



The gallery's grand opening gala is set for Dec. 3.
NILES -- Through the support of the Eastwood Mall, the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, and the Warren Junior Women's League/GFWC a new gallery will show works by local artists at the mall.
The gallery's grand opening gala at the mall will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 3.
The gallery is an effort to reach new audiences through public art exhibitions. It's located in the former Casual Corners storefront, along the concourse between Macy's and JCPenney.
Because of its size, the gallery's first exhibition in three sections -- professional artists, Trumbull County elementary through high school artists, and Youngstown State University artists. The exhibit features works of three generations of students of teachers and teachers of students.
The exhibition will run through Jan. 15, 4 to 9 p.m. Fridays and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It's staffed by volunteers.
Youth reception
A youth reception is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 20.
Artwork is for sale, and the artist will receive 100 percent of the sale. An exchange of names and phone numbers between the artist or teacher and the customer will take place for the sale of the artwork.
