Ball State bashes Kent State behind Bostic, Davis & amp; Hill



Western Michigan blanked Akron, 17-0.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Larry Bostic ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns Friday to lead Ball State to a 30-6 win over Kent State.
Nate Davis passed for 268 yards and a touchdown, and Darius Hill caught five passes for 116 yards for the Cardinals.
Julian Edelman passed for 181 yards and ran for 95 for Kent State.
Bostic scored on runs of 4 and 7 yards in the second quarter as Ball State outscored Kent State (6-6, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) 21-0 in the quarter. Davis threw his only touchdown pass of the game to Terry Moss in the second quarter to help Ball State (5-7, 5-3) take a 24-0 lead at halftime.
Kent State's only score came on a 9-yard pass from Edelman to Marcus Hill in the fourth quarter. The Golden Flashes were called for seven penalties for 82 yards.
W. Michigan 17, Akron 0
AKRON -- Ryan Cubit threw for 217 yards and a touchdown to lead Western Michigan.
The win will likely help the Broncos (8-4, 6-2 MAC) secure a bowl invitation for the first time since 1988, when they fell to Fresno State in the California Bowl.
Cubit was 17-of-29 with one interception and threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Keith Schultz in the third quarter. Brandon West scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth for the Broncos, and Jamarko Simmons had eight catches for 98 yards.
Luke Getsy completed 13 of 26 passes for 132 yards for Akron (5-7, 3-5). He threw one interception and was sacked five times. Getsy finished with minus-33 yards rushing, and the Broncos held the Zips to 119 total yards.
Western Michigan led 3-0 at halftime on Nate Meyer's 38-yard field goal.
Ohio 34, Miami (Ohio) 24
OXFORD -- Kalvin McRae scored on runs of 48 and 66 yards and Ohio rushed for 304 yards.
McRae finished with 180 yards on 18 carries for the Bobcats (9-3, 7-1 MAC).
Brad Bower has 84 yards on nine carries, including an 11-yard TD run with 1:18 left in the second quarter that gave Ohio a 13-10 halftime lead. He also was 10-of-17 passing for 133 yards and interception.
Mike Kokal threw TD passes of 11 yards to Ryne Robinson and 4 yards to Tom Crabtree for Miami (2-10, 2-6) and ran for a 36-yard score in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 24.
The Bobcats responded with a 73-yard, five-play drive capped by Josh Febus' 1-yard scoring run that gave them the lead for good.
Kokal finished 20-of-36 passing for 180 yards and an interception. He also had 13 carries for 95 yards.
Robinson finished with nine catches for 91 yards for Miami.
Northern Illinois 27,Eastern Michigan 0
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Garrett Wolfe rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown to lead Northern Illinois.
Wolfe set a school record with his 22nd career game rushing for at least 100 yards. The nation's leading rusher finished with 164 yards on 27 carries.
The Huskies (7-5, 5-3 MAC) led 21-0 at halftime after scoring twice in the final four minutes of the second quarter.
Central Michigan 55, Buffalo 28
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour threw three touchdown passes in the first half and Tim Brazzel returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a score.
LeFevour completed 14-of-16 attempts for 294 yards in just one half of work before giving way to backup Brian Brunner.
Central Michigan (8-4, 7-1 MAC) crushed Buffalo's (2-10, 1-7) hopes of ending its first season under coach Turner Gill on a high note by opening up a 41-point lead at halftime.
