TubaChristmas concerts

NILES -- The Mahoning Valley's eighth annual TubaChristmas sing-along concerts will be at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastwood Mall.
Created by Harvey Phillips in 1974, the concerts will be presented in more than 180 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. Phillips was inspired to create TubaChristmas to honor his teacher, the late great tubist, William J. Bell.
Every Christmas season, tuba and euphonium players of all ages gather to pay respect to Bell and other great tubists. The concerts feature traditional Christmas carols specially arranged by American composer Alec Wilder.
