Park-Porter building to get roof

WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners have approved hiring a Saginaw, Mich., company to put a new roof on the Park-Porter building at 280 Park Avenue downtown as the first step in a 2.5 million renovation.
Commissioners agreed Wednesday to pay Durolast Roofing Inc. 166,300 for the work. Holko Enercon Inc. of Fowler will do the work for Durolast.
Bruce Sekanick of Phillips/Sekanick Architects of Warren has told commissioners he wanted to get the new roof on the building before the worst of the winter weather and then begin the interior renovations.
When completed, the building will house the county's Department of Job and Family Services and the One-Stop job training and employment office.
Commissioners also tabled a proposal to buy a six-unit apartment building at 378 Harmon Avenue until next week's commissioners meeting so that David Zofko, the county's chief building official, can provide commissioners with an evaluation of the building. The county had proposed paying 100,000 for the building and using it for storage.
