Dana school ensembles to present holiday concert

The audience will get a chance to sing along to the 'Hallelujah' chorus.
THE VINDICATOR
YOUNGSTOWN -- Inspiration and joy -- not to mention cocoa and cookies -- will fill the evening as the Dana School of Music ensembles present their annual holiday concert at Stambaugh Auditorium on Dec 6.
Beginning at 7 p.m. in the ballroom, the traditional "Carols and Cocoa" program will feature the Trombone Ensemble, the Dana Flute Ensemble, and University Chorus and Dana Chorale.
At 8 p.m., moving to the main concert hall, the main event of the concert will be John Rutter's festive work, "Gloria," performed by the Dana Symphonic Choir and members of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
To add to the evening's excitement, the Dana Jazz Ensemble I and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform their best carol numbers.
A special addition of this year's concert is the appearance of select community groups, including Canfield High School Concert Choir and the Youngstown Symphony Chorus. They will offer their best carols, bringing the whole Youngstown community together in downtown.
Audience sing-along
There will also be time for the audience to sing carols with the ensembles with instrumental accompaniment as a part of a mass choir. The performance will conclude with the ever-inspirational Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus sung by the mass choir. The public is invited to bring "Messiah" scores and sing along to the "Hallelujah" chorus.
Admission is 10 for adults and 5 for senior citizens and students. Children under 12 and those with a valid YSU ID card get in free. For more information, call the Dana School of Music Office at (330) 941-3636.
