THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS

The Vindicator/William D. Lewis
There were some unusual characters in Chaney High School's classrooms -- namely a turkey, a Pilgrim and an American Indian. Above, Doris Novello, a high school English teacher, donned a turkey costume and gobbled out a lesson Tuesday. At right, high school Principal Bruce Donahue, left, and Chris Patrone, a social studies teacher, showed the camaraderie that tradition says was shared by the Pilgrims and American Indians on the first Thanksgiving in the 1600s. Novello, Donahue and Patrone were in costumes to help the Chaney chapter of the Future Teachers of America in its fundraiser to help send some students to a seminar in San Diego.
