Steelhounds' Richards wins award again
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chris Richards of the Youngstown SteelHounds was named Central Hockey League player of the week, his second award this season.
In three games, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Richards scored four goals and had eight assists while posting a plus-5 rating with 21 shots on goal. He ranks second in the CHL with 27 points and leads the league with 18 assists.
Richards stepped into the SteelHounds' record book last Friday, registering six points (two goals and four assists) in Youngstown's 8-5 victory over Tulsa. The following night, he had a goal and three assists in a one-goal loss.
The CHL record books are also keeping close tabs on the former Ohio State player, who is ranked 21st on the league's all-time point list (478) and is 15th in assists all-time (327).
Home to Rayz Wednesday
The SteelHounds will continue their six-game home stand Wednesday when they play the first of three games against the Corpus Christi Rayz at the Chevrolet Centre. Faceoff for Wednesday's game is 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday's game is Beach Night and will feature a bikini contest. The best-dressed fans will win prizes. Friday is Harley Davidson Bike Night and a Teddy Bear Toss. Custom-made bikes from Harley Davidson of Youngstown will be in the concourse and fans are also encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to toss on the ice after the first SteelHounds goal. All toys will be donated to Toys for Tots.
