Nursing home sold at auction


Al Vrable of Columbus, a Campbell native, was the highest bidder for   Carrington South Healthcare Center Inc. during a U.S. Bankruptcy Court auction today.

His company, Vrable Landholding Youngstown LLC of Cleveland, outbid four other companies seeking to buy the Midlothian Boulevard nursing home. Bidding started at $4,250,000 and ran up to $7,050,000.

The court has allowed the nursing home, which has about 100 clients, to stay in business under interim management after it filed for bankruptcy protection and agreed to allow the facility to be sold at auction as an on-going operation.

Carrington owes nearly $10 milion to various creditors, inclduing the State of Ohio and the IRS.

The sale to Vrable must be approved by the court in a hearing set for 10 a.m. Nov. 29.
