AUCTIONS
The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is seeking donated items and sponsorships for an auction to be held Feb. 24 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle, Pa. A sponsorship at the 2,500 level entitles a business to top billing on the front of the program cover, mention in the press and four tickets to the event. A 500 sponsorship entitles a business to a full-page ad, mention in the press and two tickets to the event. Donated items, including such things as sporting event tickets, collectibles and time-share vacations, can be mailed to or taken to the shelter, 1218 W. East Palestine Rotary Club will hold its 10th annual Christmas auction of collectibles and new merchandise at 4 p.m. Friday at East Palestine Country Club, 50834 Carmel Achor Road, Negley. Doors will open at 3 p.m. for a preview of items, and food such as hot dogs, Coney dogs, hamburgers, sloppy joes, nachos and cheese, and beverages will be available. Proceeds will benefit community events.
FAIRS
Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, 138 W. Washington St., New Castle, Pa., will hold its 34th annual bridal fair on Jan. 28 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle. The show hours will be noon to 6 p.m. and will feature continuous fashion shows and demonstrations, more than 10,000 in door prizes, and a 1,000 cash grand prize drawing at 5:30. Complimentary tickets are available at participating businesses or by contacting the chamber at (724) 654-5593. Interested exhibitors may call the chamber for more information.
OPEN HOUSES
A Victorian Holiday Walk will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 through some of Warren's historic houses that will be decorated for the season and open for public tours. Among the sites will be the Upton House, John Stark Edwards House, Sutliff Museum (Warren Public Library), Kinsman House, Land Title Office (Trumbull County Tourism Bureau), and the Perkins Mansion (city hall). Tours will be 5 a person; children 12 and under are free. There will be free refreshments and entertainment at each site. The event is being sponsored by a consortium of the Upton Association, the Trumbull Historical Society, Sutliff Museum, Trumbull County Tourism Bureau and City Hall. SALES
Angels for Animals, 4750 state Route 165, Canfield, will hold a three-day antique and collectible sale. Donated items for the sale should be taken to the shelter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday or from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 27 through Dec. 1. The sale will begin with a special preview to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1. Admission is 5 and includes wine and cheese. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3. SPECIAL EVENTS
Angels for Animals will hold a Thanksgiving bake sale and doggy pj's party from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Clear Channel Radio Station, South Avenue, Boardman. Frozen apple pies and pumpkin pies are 7, prebaked apple pies are 8, cookies are 5 and brownies are 3. Curb service will be available. Orders of five or more pies called to (330) 502-5352 can be delivered. Niki Weirich of Channel 27 will be present from 5:30 to 7 a.m. Take your dog and get a free goodie bag.
