Truth in Action drama
YOUNGSTOWN -- A special presentation by the Truth in Action drama team of Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C., is planned at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 26 at Boardman Baptist Church, 1207 Shields Road. The original drama "Journey to Gehenna" will be staged by the students who are touring the midwestern United States this fall.
Spirituality Day
HOWLAND -- The Benedictine Sisters of the Byzantine Church at Queen of Heaven Monastery, 8640 Squires Lane N.E., will hold a Spirituality Day from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 9. The speaker will be J. Michael Thompson, a professor at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, whose topic will be "The Musical Treasure of the Byzantine Catholic Church." There will be silent reflection and the sacrament of reconciliation. Refreshments will be served. The day will conclude with vespers at 4:10.
Guest speaker
AUSTINTOWN -- Jim Leone Sr. will be guest speaker at Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road, during a service at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Testimony at concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- Boardman Baptist Church, 1207 Shields Road, will present Thomas Solich in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. He will present testimony and a musical program.
Revival planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Grace Baptist Church, 909 Fairgreen Ave., will hold a revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Nov. 25. The evangelist will be the Rev. Dr. Jerry M. Carter Sr., pastor of Mount Period Baptist Church of Columbus. The praise team will feature choirs, soloists and inspirational presentations.
Prayer seminar
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- A prayer seminar on Our Lady of Guadalupe is planned from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at Villa Maria Retreat Center. Sister Marguerite Holz of the Villa Maria Retreat Team will lead the group in the exploration of the story of Mary's apparition and its significance in the world today. Spiritual society
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Spiritual Society will hold a message and meditation service from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Vince Lisi will present "The Original and Only Sin" followed by meditation and shared prayer.
Missionary Day
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Missionary Society of Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 718 Albert St., will hold Missionary Day at 4 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be minister James Bowie of Union Baptist Church.
Gospel concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ambassadors for Christ will sponsor an after-Thanksgiving gospel concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave. The free event will include church choirs and soloists from the Youngstown, Campbell and Warren areas.
Church anniversary
CAMPBELL -- Faith Temple Baptist Church, 125 Roosevelt Drive, will celebrate its 39th anniversary during a service at 4 p.m. Nov. 26. The Rev. Robert E. Chavers of Community Missionary Baptist Church of Farrell, Pa., will be keynote speaker and the congregation also will participate.
Musical guest
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Calvary Temple Worship Center, 1465 Sampson St., will host Jim Hukill as its musical guest and speaker at 6 p.m. Sunday. Hukill, who has used a wheelchair since childhood, is the founder of Eleos, the Care Network. His ministry focuses on people experiencing difficult times.
Play to be staged
YOUNGSTOWN -- Spanish Evangelical Church and Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave., will present the play "Unfaithful" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The drama focuses on a man's journey as he discovers the importance of faithfulness. The presentation is free but a free-will offering will be taken.
