Free to be smoke-free
Free to be smoke-free
EDITOR:
This is in reply to the Nov. 15 letter from a veteran. First, I would like to thank him for serving his country.
But I also have a question about freedom that I have asked for decades. Being highly allergic to cigarette smoke, what happened to my freedom all these years to have a drink or a dinner in a restaurant or bar without being smoked on? This is something I have been unable to do for forever and I truly look forward to eating out or having a drink in a totally smoke-free place.
To the people who worked on these campaigns and fought the big tobacco companies and to the voters to made Ohio smoke-free, thank you. I truly never thought I would live long enough to see this day.

Elton John misplaces blame
EDITOR:
Elton John's comments in the Newsmakers item, "John: Religion fuels bias" is way off base. True religion as manifested by true Christians does not promote hatred against gays or other groups of people who practice what is forbidden by God in the scriptures. True born again Christians love homosexuals but warn them about the judgment of God against them.
There are many former homosexuals, both male and female, who have been converted to Christ and live faithful heterosexual lives as depicted in the scriptures. John wants to ban religion in his intolerance for the truth but wants everyone to accept his aberrant lifestyle. This is what intolerance and hypocrisy is hidden in his heart and many others like him.
Anyone who is intelligent and has studied biology and the reason for the difference in the sexes can easily understand why homosexuality is not only forbidden in the scriptures but is also illogical. Every person is born of a father and a mother but homosexuals deny this by their very lifestyle.
The scripture says that people become homosexuals because of the lust in their hearts and they do things which do not make sense and disgrace the intent of the creator of all people.
They are trying to make their aberrant lifestyle acceptable in society and that is why so many people are angry and judge them for it.

There's more than one evil
EDITOR:
I would respond to the Nov. 13 letter, "A growing evil in Israel, & quot; that the growing evil is that of replacement theology.
The accidental shooting into civilians recently was truly a tragedy. The accident is being investigated by authorities in Israel. The difference between Palestinian suicide bombers and their terrorist backers is that it is strategic policy to target innocent civilians and has been so ever since its inception years ago by its founder, Yasser Arafat. The retaliation into Lebanon was in defense of those same types of attacks by the brotherhood of terrorists using Lebanon as a base for their rocket attacks into Israeli civilian targets.
The Palestinians, as a people, were created within the past 30 years. As for occupied land, it is God's land and He has made it quite clear what the past, present, and future of that land will be for the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The "demons" lurking in the Middle East and throughout the world, will try to stop God's plans from becoming reality.
There were two Jewish temples on Temple Mount in Israel and there will be a third. The extreme of replacing the Jews with any other people to fulfill scriptural prophecy will bring on Armageddon as predicted.
