YOUNGSTOWN -- A new television show promises to tackle the most controversial issues facing the Mahoning Valley.
"The David Betras Show," hosted by the prominent local attorney, will make its debut Saturday immediately after the Ohio State-Michigan football game on WYTV, Channel 33. Game coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. on WYTV.
Subsequent shows will air at 6 p.m. Saturdays on myYTV, the sister station of WYTV.
George Farris is the show's producer.
"Our guests will include local elected officials, judges, politicians and businesspeople -- anyone whose actions impact the Valley," said Betras. "We plan to put them all on the hot seat, pose the tough questions and demand answers. And we'll cover regional and national issues as well. No subject will be off-limits."
Viewers will be able to e-mail questions to Betras and his guests via a link from Betrasharshman.com.
The topic of the debut show will be regionalization. Guests will include Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, Boardman Trustee Robyn Gallitto and Austintown Trustee Lisa Oles.
Next week's topic
Next week's show will examine how Mahoning County deals with criminals -- including whether too many or not enough of them are being sent to prison. Guests will be Judge Scott Krichbaum of the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and Mahoning County Sheriff Randall Wellington.
Other future shows will examine the impact of the recent levy failure on the Youngstown School District, and the future of Oak Hill Renaissance Place.
Each episode of the weekly 30-minute show will have only one topic. National issues -- including the stem-cell research controversy -- will also be examined.
Betras will continue to do his weekly legal advice show on radio station WKBN AM-570. He has been doing the show for 15 years.
MyYTV airs as Channel 13 on Armstrong Cable; as Channel 3 on Comcast; and as Channel 534 on Time Warner Cable.
