Another crack at it
BOARDMAN — A 3.5-mill bond issue for school building improvements will be back on the ballot in February.
School board members unanimously passed a motion to proceed with the issue on the Feb. 6 special election ballot. The vote came at a special meeting tonight which followed a unanimous board vote Sunday on a resolution of necessity.
The resolution of necessity and resolution to proceed had to be passed at separate meetings.
Voters rejected the bond issue by more than 1,000 votes last week. It would have allowed the school district to borrow $51.6 million to be paid back with interest over 28 years.
The district hopes to make improvements at all seven of its school buildings. The oldest school, Center Middle, was built in 1911, while the newest, the high school, is 37 years old.
