MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Pat White ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and Steve Slaton added two scoring runs as No. 10 West Virginia bounced back from its first loss with a 42-24 victory over Cincinnati Saturday.
Slaton ran for 148 yards on just 12 carries to help West Virginia (8-1, 3-1 Big East) overcame a sluggish start. The Mountaineers scored five of their TDs on drives of five plays or less.
Cincinnati (5-5, 2-3) lost to a ranked opponent on the road for the fourth time this season.
West Virginia, the nation's second leading rushing offense, compiled 313 yards against one of the best rush defenses, which had surrendered five TDs entering the game.
Slaton, who fumbled twice after injuring his elbow and wrist in a Nov. 2 loss at Louisville, held onto the ball against the Bearcats. He had TD runs of 65 and 3 yards.
West Virginia now has a short practice week before playing in the annual Backyard Brawl at Pittsburgh Thursday night.

Freshman Donald Brown carried the ball 43 times for 205 yards, including a 10-yard run in the second OT that cut Pittsburgh's lead to 45-44.
That capped a comeback that began after Pittsburgh (6-4, 2-3) went ahead 31-17 on a 1-yard run by quarterback Tyler Palko that capped a 7-play, 62-yard drive late in the third quarter.
