Walsh Jesuit wins boys and girls titles

COLUMBUS -- Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit won its third state title with a 2-0 victory over Kettering Alter Saturday in the Division II boys state soccer final.
Jacob Milli and Michael Nanchoff scored as Walsh Jesuit controlled play for most of the first half. Alter missed a chance at a second-half goal when Nicolas Rorer's shot got past the goalkeeper, but Walsh's Lee Niedenthal cleared the ball off the line before it went in.
Both schools were playing in their ninth state tournament. Walsh Jesuit (21-2-0) last won the title in 1990. Alter (18-3-1) has been runner-up three times.
Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit 2, Dublin Coffman 1
COLUMBUS -- Rose Augustine scored on a shot from 22 yards out to give Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit the victory in the Div. I girls championship game.
Dublin Coffman (16-4-2) took an early lead when Kelsey Hunyadi scored on a 30-yard free kick. Walsh Jesuit (23-0) tied the game in the 34th minute when Darcy Riley scored from 10 yards out on a cross from Hannah Walker.
Walsh Jesuit outshot Dublin Coffman 14-3, including 6-2 on goal, to claim its fourth state title. Dublin Coffman did not take a single shot on goal during the second half.
Parma Hts. Holy Name 1,Hamilton Badin 0, SO
COLUMBUS -- Parma Heights Holy Name outscored defending champion Hamilton Badin 5-3 in a shootout in the Div. II girls final. It was the first state tournament appearance for Holy Name (18-3-2) and the sixth for Badin (15-3-4), which has been runner-up five times.
Holy Name had just one shot on goal in regulation, and two in overtime, while goal keeper Becky Williams saved seven shots by Badin. But Holy Name claimed the title when Jessica Bound converted her penalty kick in the shootout, after Badin's Lindsey Donges hit the right post with hers.
