Four area top cops learn at FBI school

Robert Gavalier of Austintown, Paul Monroe of Howland, John Soldano of Leetonia and Larry Dordea of Alliance were chosen by FBI officials in Buffalo, N.Y., to attend a weeklong training school last month at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

The FBI sponsored the Great Lakes Leadership School for executives of departments with a staff of 50 or fewer officers.

Soldano said the training session brought   together law enforcement executives from Canada and the FBI’s Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo regions. The area chiefs were four of 10 chosen by FBI Buffalo officials to attend from the Cleveland region, he said.

The focus was on leadership and covered policy and procedures, but also topics such as school violence, child abduction, weapons of mass destruction and working with the media.
