Boardman board will give voters another chance
BOARDMAN — The Boardman school board will again seek voter permission to borrow $51.6 million to fund improvements at the district’s buildings.
The money would be borrowed through the sale of bonds and paid back, with interest, over 28 years.
Meeting in special session Sunday at Boardman Center Middle School, the board
unanimously approved a resolution of necessity to put a 3.5-mill bond issue on the Feb. 6 special election ballot.
Kimberly S. Poma, board member, said, “This is the first step to put the bond issue back on the ballot.”
The other board members are Mark J. Fulks, Niklaus Amstutz, Kenneth B. Beraduce and Robert DeMarco.
Fulks said two meetings are needed to proceed with putting the bond issue on the ballot. The first meeting was Sunday and the second is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Nov. 24 is the deadline to have issues for a February special election to the Mahoning County Board of Elections.
On Nov. 7, voters rejected the 3.5-mill bond issue. Unofficial results from the board of elections show the levy defeated by 1,052 votes.
