WARREN -- Ralph Phelan Sr., 2947 state Route 5, Leavittsburg, and his bride, the former Darlinda Smith, 1278 Griffin St. S.W., Newton Falls, honeymooned on the island of Maui after their Sept. 30 wedding at Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ.
The couple exchanged nuptial vows during a 3 p.m. ceremony officiated by the bride's grandfather, the Rev. Bell Smith Sr. and her aunt, the Rev. Ethel Head, and a reception was held at the Grand Pavilion at Avalon Inn in Howland. They live in Leavittsburg.
The bride's parents are Willie Sr. and Evelyn Smith of the Newton Falls address, and the groom is a son of Mary Ella Phelan, 4446 Henry Drive, Montgomery, Ala., and the late Fred Phelan.
Embellished with lace, crystals and beads, the bride's strapless diamond-white gown featured a fitted bodice and cathedral train.
Brunt-orange gowns were worn by the honor attendants, Mignon Smith and Pamela Christian, and the bridesmaids, Clematis White, Bobbi Bain, Marcia Kennedy and Lakita Head. Flower girls were Av & eacute;-Faith Hopson Walker and Samara Henderson.
Best men were Ralph Phelan Jr. and Sidney Stovall. Groomsmen were David Phelan, Freddie Phelan, Ronald Walker and Marti Toles. Ring bearer was Jeremiah Kitchen, and broom carrier was Joshua Kitchen. Ushers were Mitchel Bain, Andrew Bain, Willie Smith Jr. and Willard Smith.
Also participating were Angela Cartwright, Beverly Warren, Norma Roberts and Lorinda Sako.
The bride graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in business management.
