Anniversary is celebrated by the Contes

AUSTINTOWN -- In celebration of 60 years of marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Conte were honored during a dinner party held Oct. 29 at Caf & eacute; Azur in Boardman.
Hosts for the event were their family, Valerie Cardiero of Canfield and Sheila and Jack Koontz of Austintown. Rounding out the family circle are four granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.
Mr. Conte and the former Yole Schiavone were born in Montaguto, a province of Avellino, Italy, and came to the United States as young children. Their families lived in different cities, but the couple were reunited as adults. They were married Oct. 28, 1946, at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
Mr. Conte is a retired grocer and former partner with Schiavone's United Family Foods of Wickliffe. His wife worked for the family business and was part owner prior to her marriage. In the early 1950s, the couple were among the founding members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where they are still members.
