Man still hospitalized with injured foot

WARREN - A 53-year-old Masury man remains hospitalized with a severe foot injury after an explosive detonated in a friend's back yard during the Memorial Day weekend.
Michael Perry of Atlantic Street in Masury declined to comment Tuesday from his bed at St. Joseph Health Center. He did say he hopes his right foot can be saved.
Police and firefighters were called to Millikin Place Northeast, the home of Perry's friend, after the explosion about 2:30 p.m. in the back yard.
Authorities said Perry told them the device was a smoke bomb. Believing it was a homemade explosive, a search warrant was obtained for Perry's Masury home.
Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Faustino said there were no explosives found, nor materials to make them, in Perry's house.
