Man pleads to attempted abduction
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Canfield man, who had initially been charged with rape, has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted abduction before Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.
Casper Rach, 19, of Blueberry Hill Drive, who entered the plea Tuesday, is scheduled to be sentenced at 11 a.m. July 6 after a presentence investigation by the Adult Parole Authority.
Rach was 18 at the time of the Jan. 31, 2005, date with the female victim, who was then 17. The victim agreed to the plea arrangement.
Rach, who is free on bond, could be incarcerated for six to 18 months and fined up to $5,000 under the reduced charge, court papers said.
Rach was indicted in March 2005. In April of that year, he was designated the most wanted fugitive of the week by the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
