Jenkins stays in prison
WARREN -- The 11th District Court of Appeals has ruled against former Harding High School girls basketball coach David Jenkins in his bid to be released from prison while he appeals his conviction for murdering his wife, Deana, in May 2004. Jenkins, who was sentenced to 15 years to life, had requested that he be allowed to post bond and leave prison until the court hears his appeal on the murder conviction. Jenkins had filed the same request with Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, who also denied his request.
Business burglarized
YOUNGSTOWN -- When an employee of Daily Monument on Mahoning Avenue arrived for work Tuesday morning, she discovered someone had broken into the business. An outside door and two inner doors were broken to gain entry, police said. The employee said keys were taken to an upstairs apartment, and it appears someone slept on a small couch in the office. Any loss will be reported after an inventory.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rabbi Meyer Lecture Series planned for today at Congregation Ohev Tzedek, 5245 Glenwood Ave., has been canceled because of the illness of the speaker, Sister Mary Boys. The luncheon and workshop for clergy will still take place.
Possible abduction
STRUTHERS -- Police are investigating what looked like an abduction at about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said they saw a beige car stop at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Tenth Street, where a woman jumped out, fell into the street, and began screaming and saying she couldn't walk. Two men in the vehicle jumped out, forced her back into the car, which then sped west on Lincoln with the woman punching, kicking and screaming at the two men.
Need a baby-sitter?
BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross, 8392 Tod Ave., will host its second annual baby-sitter social from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapter house. Parents can meet certified ARC baby sitters and interview them for potential jobs this summer. The sitters are certified in first-aid and how to get professional medical help fast, handling bedtime issues, and preparing simple meals and snacks.
Medic kit missing
STRUTHERS -- A supervisor at Clemente Ambulance Service, Youngstown-Poland Road, reported to police Monday that a black medic kit with assorted supplies was missing from an ambulance parked in the rear of Clemente Funeral Home, 700 Fifth St.
Naked driver in Blazer
STRUTHERS -- A naked man driving a silver 1998 Blazer pulled next to three juvenile girls on Harvey Street on Sunday and asked for directions. The girls escaped unharmed.
