FUNDRAISERS
XCortland Mooseriders 1012 will hold a poker run Saturday as a benefit for Caleb Owens, who was injured in a hayride accident. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and bikes will leave between 11 a.m. and noon from the Cortland Moose Lodge, state Route 46, north of Mecca Circle, and will finish at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 for riders and $5 for passengers, and the fee includes prizes, refreshments, music and a raffle. GOLF OUTINGS
XCopeland Hills Golf Club in Columbiana will host a Critter Classic, an 18-hole golf outing to benefit the Humane Society of Columbiana County, at 8 a.m. June 10. The entry fee of $60 per person includes green fees, riding cart, coffee and doughnuts, sausage sandwiches at the turn and a marinated chicken dinner after the event. All beverages are also included. The $600 purse will be based on the 32 teams limit, with an optional $20 skins game. Prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin will also be awarded. XA Way With Words Foundation, 14 N. Anderson Ave., Austintown, will sponsor a golf scramble as a fundraiser beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton. The cost is $300 for a four-person team and includes green fees, cart, lunch, steak dinner, beer, pop and water. There will be a hole-in-one prize of a 2006 Turbo PT Cruiser convertible, team cash prizes, raffles, door prizes and gifts. Event sponsors are $1,000; sponsors will be recognized at the scramble and at an Oct. 21 fundraiser.
RAFFLES
XGreater Girard Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a raffle to raise funds for Christmas decorations in the downtown area. The drawing will take place Aug. 4 at the Taste of Girard. Tickets are $5 each. Prizes are: first prize, four tickets to the Cleveland Indians/Detroit Tigers game Aug. 25, limousine transportation and dinner for four in Cleveland; second prize, two tickets to the Cleveland Indians/Kansas City Royals game Sept. 12 and dinner for two in Cleveland; and third prize, two embroidered Cleveland Indians hooded sweatshirts.
