AUSTINTOWN -- New Road just west of state Route 46 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for storm sewer installation, says the Ohio Department of Transportation. The detour route will be Turner Road to Mahoning Avenue to Route 46.
Road to be closed
BROOKFIELD -- Stewart-Sharon Road will be closed between Bedford Road and Broadway Avenue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 for a waterline installation. The recommended detour is south on Bedford Road, northeast on U.S. Route 62 and north on Idlewild West Road, the county engineer's office said.
New Life garage sale
VIENNA -- New Life Maternity Home will be accepting donations next Monday and June 6 for its Annual Giant Garage Sale.
The maternity home's staff is looking for housewares, furniture and other items in good salable condition, director Theresa Seiders said. Donations can be dropped off at the maternity home headquarters at 3653 Warren-Sharon Road in Vienna.
The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9.
Proceeds from the sale will go to the Residents' Recreation Account to fund activities and field trips.
New Life is a maternity home for young, single women funded by private donations. Women can come to the home and decide whether they wish to keep their babies or put them up for adoption, Seiders said.

Hired for clerk's office
NORTH LIMA -- The Beaver Township trustees have hired a part-time assistant to work in the clerk's office. Margie Davison, former township EMS director, was hired for that position at a special meeting recently. Her wage was set at $8.75 an hour.
Document shredding
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Better Business Bureau is holding Shred Day on Saturday to remind consumers and businesses that the best way to protect against identity theft is to shred personal documents. A mobile shredding truck is being provided at the Chevrolet Centre, 229 E. Front St., between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Consumers and business are invited to bring up to 10 boxes of documents to be shredded for free. Library gets award
LIBERTY -- The Liberty Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has been awarded the Liberty Township Spring Beautification Award. The presentation was made recently during the Trumbull County commissioners meeting by Paul M. Orend, vice president of the Liberty Business Association and township Police Chief Anthony Slifka. Orend said the award that started three years ago takes into consideration safety improvements and aesthetics. Slifka said the award has encouraged business owners to clean up debris and weeds and make sure lighting is functioning for the safety of customers.
