Jailed man faces assault, drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- An Ives Avenue man was jailed on assault and drug charges after police said he fired a handgun in the direction of an Eleanor Avenue woman.
Police said they were called to Eleanor Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a woman being held in her residence against her will by a man with a gun.
Police said the man, Danny Trevathan, 37, was on the second floor of the house and at first refused to come out.
He later walked down the steps to officers, and police said they found a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a bag of suspected cocaine floating in the toilet in the second-floor bathroom. They also found a loaded .380-caliber handgun in a second-floor bedroom.
A witness said Trevathan fired a round from a handgun into the ground at the woman's feet.
Police said Trevathan was booked into Mahoning County Jail on charges of felonious assault, possession of cocaine and marijuana and tampering with evidence pending arraignment.
