TAG is gearing up for annual Summerfest
WARREN -- Area artists are invited to showcase their talent in the third annual Trumbull Art Gallery Summerfest for Children, June 23-July 7. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
In keeping with the Renaissance spirit of Leonardo da Vinci, this year's Summerfest guiding light, artists will decorate and transform downtown storefront windows to resemble a period market town that also might incorporate some modern ideas into their concept. Prize money totaling $1,000 will be available as cash awards. Qualified judges will determine winners, based on originality of execution. Courthouse Square should be a piece of artwork by June 10.
The Summerfest 2006 program of art workshops for youngsters age 4 through midteens will take place across two weeks beginning June 23, and culminate in a colorful, conceptually diverse parade around Courthouse Square. Youngsters will be carrying and/or wearing their creations. In a post-parade festival, games, music and art activities will follow, and visitors are welcome to bring picnic baskets for a fun afternoon in the park.
Entry forms for window displays are available at TAG, 196-198 E. Market St.
The full Summerfest schedule of workshops, and other information, can be accessed at www.trumbullartgallery.com.
