XST. LOUIS -- The Rev. John Reiker officiated at the wedding of Michelle Mayer and Shawn O'Connell on April 22 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
The ceremony took place at 2 p.m., and the couple accepted congratulations during a reception at The Christy before leaving for the Riviera Maya in Mexico.
They live at 7404 Yates St.
Parents of the bride are Jim and Grace Boyd, 6319 Christopher Winds Court, and Mike and Kim Mayer, 3511 E. Rock Creek Road, Imperial, Mo. The groom's parents are Jack and Geri O'Connell, 968 Krehl Ave., Girard.
Beaded tulle panels enhanced the bride's strapless, ivory, A-line gown.
Wearing sage-green gowns were the bride's sister and honor attendant, Melissa Mayer, and the bridesmaids, Monika Mayer, her sister; Robyne Elder; Paige Ridder; and Becky Scarpace.
The duties of best man were performed by the groom's cousin, Ryan Barnot, and groomsmen were Dennis Vari, Bob Mattson, Mark Jankowski and Jeff Doran. Ring bearer was the bride's nephew, Michael Mayer, and ushers were her brothers, Mike and Matt Mayer.
The bride graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., with a bachelor's degree in communications. She is a technical recruiter with NextGen Information Services.
The groom earned a bachelor's in communications at Youngstown State University. He is a staffing specialist with Today's Staffing.
