Summertime activities
Warriors Inc. is a faith-based, nonprofit organization designed to coordinate and develop programs to build communication throughout the Mahoning Valley. All events will take place at The HOPE Building at 2733 Market St. unless otherwise noted. For more information or questions regarding any activity, please contact Wendy Robinson (330) 783-5440. Here is a list of the organization's upcoming events:
Now through July 10 -- Mahoning Valley Lady Warriors: Traveling tournament basketball team open to girls in junior and senior high school. The Lady Warriors provide community services such as mentoring and volunteer work. They compete in tournaments throughout Ohio.
Saturday -- Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs: A program for children ages 11-17. Classes are held bi-weekly starting Saturday at 9 a.m. This is a state-certified sports fishing program that focuses on preventing drug use through fishing and water aquatic resource education.
June 13-Aug. 12 -- Eagle's Christian Preschool Child Care and Summer Day Camp: This eight-week preschool is for children ages 5-11 and will last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program will include a variety of children's activities and financial assistance is available. The children will be under the supervision of JoAnn Minor. Contact Minor at (330) 783-5668.
June 24 -- Warriors Inc. Positive Force 2 Drill Team Clinic: This year's program, "The Art of Stompin'" is under the direction of Roselle Burch, step coordinator, director and founder. Registration is being held through June 18.
July 16 -- Warriors of the Son Sports Bike Run: Registration is from June 1 to July 14. Starting point is 2733 Market St. More details will follow.
Aug. 12 -- Trash and Treasure Arts and Craft Show: The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be in the back parking lot of the HOPE Building. The cost is $15 for a table.
