THEFT THWARTED BY INCOMPETENCE

ELECTRIC SNAG: Youngstown police officers take a report at the scene of an attempted truck theft off Hubbard Road. Three bystanders told police three men stole the truck Friday but crashed into electric wires, causing wires, poles and a transformer to fall. Two were caught on Thornhill Avenue and brought to the crash site, where they were identified by the bystanders, police said. A third man fled in a white car. Police charged Thimoty Morris, 36, of Buckeye Circle, and James Buford, 22, of McBride Street, with grand theft auto and took them to the Mahoning County Jail. Also on the scene were Youngstown firefighters and Ohio Edison workers.
