Tennis, golf, auction scheduled at Squaw Creek



Proceeds will support activities that are available at the center.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Jewish Community Center will hold its annual Suzi Solomon Golf and Tennis Classic June 19 at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Vienna.
Named as a tribute to Solomon, a former member, golfer and skier, the event is open to the public and begins with a lunch.
Participants can play 18 holes of golf or tennis matches. Afterward there will be a cocktail hour, dinner, raffle and live auction.
The auction will include donated works of local artists, including Blanche Weiss, Tracy Segreti, Coy Cornelius, Fred Shepard, Shannon Tesone, Jason Van Huese and Jeremy Glazier. Other items to be auctioned are: two tickets to the Broadway production of "Stomp;" signed Ben Rothlisberger and Greg Norman items; a weekend getaway, gift certificates and a chance for a golfer to win a year's lease on a Porsche.
Fees for the day
The cost for a golfer is $175, and for a tennis player the fee is $50. To attend only the cocktail hour and dinner, the cost is $50. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
Proceeds will support various JCC programs, including infant and toddler care, children's activities, sports programs and the fitness center.
