Officers are installed, scholarship awarded



The organization ends its season by installing a new slate of officers.
LIBERTY -- The Youngstown Area Federation of Women's Clubs held its final meeting of the season May 16 at Youngstown Country Club.
Members and guests were welcomed by Lucile Bartelmay, president. Decorations were arranged by members of Fortnightly IV.
Mary B. Smith had the meditation and conducted the installation of the following officers: Elva Easton, president; Dorothy Schwers, first vice president; Barbara Higgins, second vice president; Delphine Vandervoort, third vice president; Marilyn Morelli, recording secretary; Carol James, corresponding secretary; and Sally Schlabaugh, treasurer.
Among the highlights of the day was the presentation of a $2,000 scholarship to Mandy Pavlicko, a junior in the college of mechanical engineering at Youngstown State University.
Honored as the organization's Woman of the Year was Dr. Carol Baird, director of The Youngstown Connection. She spoke about the tour of China and the program presented there by the musical group.
A musical program was presented by Sean Baran, a pianist and junior at Austintown Fitch High School.
A luncheon meeting of the board was scheduled for June 21 at the Stockyard Market in Canfield.
