3rd person arrested in Guthrie slaying
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown police detectives have made another arrest in the July 10, 2005, homicide of Marilyn Guthrie.
Lead Detective Brad Blackburn secured an arrest warrant for Benjamin Jason Beshara of Niles. Beshara, 32, was arrested Friday and is being held in the Mahoning County Justice Center.
Sgt. Rick Alli, Youngstown police public information officer, said Beshara's arrest follows an intense investigation by Youngstown detectives for the last several months.
Blackburn is confident this arrest secures all those involved in the murder of Guthrie, Alli said.
Anthony D. Johnson, 18, of Steel Street, and Corrion Bertram, 17, of Second Street, were charged in the murder Aug. 3. Police said Guthrie, 61, of Youll Street, Niles, was the victim of a hit and run with her own car on Parkcliffe Avenue on the South Side around 5 a.m. She was found face down on the street.
Her car, a Chevrolet Cavalier, was found burned out near Belle Vista Avenue on the West Side on July 13.
