3 dead in shooting at apartment complex

MANSFIELD (AP) -- A man shot and killed two women at his apartment complex Friday and kept police in a standoff before shooting himself, police said.
Mansfield Police Chief Phil Messer identified the gunman as Jerry Hartman, 44.
"He is a person who has struggled with some mental health issues," Messer said at a news conference.
Messer would not identify the women or if they were residents of Mansfield Manor, where police arrived about 10:54 a.m. The women's ages were 28 and 57.
One of the women was found in an office, the other in a hallway.
Officers attempted to negotiate with Hartman, but he refused, police said.
The standoff lasted several hours.
